Connector Overmolded
A connector overmolded is a protective layer of plastic material applied over the junction point where the cable meets the connector. This process involves injecting molten plastic around the connector and cable assembly, forming a durable, seamless bond that encapsulates the connection point. The overmold serves as a barrier, safeguarding the connection against a wide range of environmental hazards including moisture, dust, chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
At Intercon, we have all the necessary equipment to build a plastic injection mold—even the most detailed electrical connector—to make a custom cable assembly sealed from destructive environmental factors such as pollutants, heat, humidity or inclement weather.
